This site would not only be useful for caregivers and family members of those with Alzheimer's disease, but also for students and teachers. There are a total of sixteen slides. The beginning of the slide show gives some background information on what the brain is composed of and how the brain works, including a map of the regions of the cortex. The map shows areas that control certain functions such as the interpretation of sights, sounds, and smells, the generation of thoughts, the storing of memories, and the controlling of voluntary movement. The remaining slides show how the brain progresses through the stages of Alzheimer's. Included is a list of links (upper right corner) for related information. |
