Submissions & Reviews
Q. How can I submit my site, or event, or school to your site? Will my site be considered for review? How will my site be judged?
A. Please read the help guide section entitled "Contact Us" at http://www.educationworld.com/contact/index.shtml for specific information on types of submissions.
Each site which is submitted to us is considered for review. Whether or not it is chosen to be reviewed and included on our Monthly Site Reviews page, it WILL be included in our database if it is appropriate to the education community.
Sites are reviewed using the following guidelines:
Content - How comprehensive is the material?
Aesthetics - How innovative it the site? Does its use of the latest internet features enhance the information available at the site?
Organization - Does the aesthetics of the page relate well to the content? Is the site easy to navigate?
Each of these three topics are considered individually, given a "grade", and averaged together to give an overall "grade" to the site.
Here's our take on our grading system:
| A+ |
95-100 |
This site can't be beat! Perfect in its category. |
| A |
90-95 |
Just about perfect. Top quality work. |
| B+ |
85-90 |
A quality site that should not be overlooked. |
| B |
80-85 |
'Good' is the key word here. |
| C+ |
75-80 |
Passable, but only just above average. |
| C |
70-75 |
Average. |
Troubleshooting & Search Problems
Q. I'm having difficulty with the Education World site. How can I get help? How come my searches aren't working as I hoped?
A. If you are an AOL user, try visiting our AOL Problems Page - this page describes common problems our AOL users have.
If you can't find a page or would like to give us feedback on a problem or concern, please fill out our User Feedback Form, and let us know. We will get right back to you with an updated URL.
If you are having trouble with our search tool, please read the following guidelines:
Education World features a powerful search engine, with more than 110,000 education-specific links. You can access its information in three ways:
General Search
You can search for resources using keywords. Just type the word (or words) of the subject you are looking for (example: Abraham Lincoln) into the search box at the top of our home page, or any other page on our site.
This is a basic search tool that sometimes requires refinement (if you receive too many, not enough, or no listings). If you don't receive enough information perhaps your query was too specific. For example, instead of typing "arithmetic", try typing "math".
Browse By Category
If you still are having trouble, try using our Browse By Topic section. This section contains a category tree which contains over 6,000 education-speicific topics. All 110,000 links found via keyword search are also listed within these categories.
Advanced Search
Education World's Advanced Search feature allows you to perform highly customized queries. As with the basic search, you supply space-separated keywords in the box and click the search button. However, Advanced Search provides additional controls useful for refining your results:
Scope -- By default, advanced searches are applied against the scope of all EdWorld topics. However, if you perform an advanced search after navigating to a particular level of the EdWorld Topic hierarchy, you will have the option to search against that topic alone.
Against -- You may apply your Advanced Search keywords against titles, or descriptions, or both. You must choose at least one!
Display -- You select the types of resources to display. Hint: The Reviewed Resources checkbox, if used, must be used in conjunction with one or more additional resource types.
Age of Link -- You may direct Advanced Search to weed out those resources that may be out of date.
Grade Level -- You may restrict your results to a select set of grade levels.

Q. Are Education World's Distribution Lists free? What will happen if I join any of them?
A. YES, they are FREE!
